Around 1 carat, natural. The median natural listing we read ranged from $2,570 for cushions to $4,160 for pears, against $4,750 for rounds on the same site1. Grades were mixed, so these are a starting point, not a quote.
Around 2 carats, laboratory-grown. Medians sat between $1,955 (cushion) and $3,070 (princess)2. The gap to natural stones at that weight was large: a 2.00 carat D VVS1 emerald cut was $24,720 natural and $2,450 laboratory-grown12.
Small stones close the gap. At about 0.3 carats the difference almost disappears: a 0.31 carat D VS1 Ideal princess was $310 natural and $210 laboratory-grown12. The origin decision matters most for a centre stone, much less for accent stones.
What to check by shape. Emerald and Asscher cuts show inclusions more readily through their open step facets, so clarity matters more. Pears, ovals and marquises can show a bow tie. Princess corners need protective prongs. The photo and the report beat any label.

Both fell between $15,000 and $16,000 in the listings we read1, but each band mixes many colour and clarity grades. Filter by your target grades on the jeweler's page before comparing shapes.
We do not earn anything from purchases today. Every product link is a plain link to the merchant's own page, without an affiliate code. We may join merchants' affiliate programs in the future, and this notice will say so before that changes.
Diamond listings change by the hour: stones sell, prices move and sales start and end. Every price here is the merchant's listed price on the date shown. The merchant's own page is the final word on price, availability and terms.
RingPrice Index does not sell jewelry, does not grade stones and does not take your details. We read merchants' public listing pages and report what they showed.
