Black Friday lab diamond deals: real price drop, or the same struck-through price?
Every laboratory-grown stone we read at Friendly Diamonds on October 7, 2026 already showed a struck-through price. The only test of a deal is the price you pay against a dated read.

A dash means the jeweler has not published it. Offers are the jeweler's to change; its page on the day is the final word.
The struck-through price, explained
Every Friendly Diamonds listing we read shows two numbers under each stone: a struck-through figure and the price you pay. On the cheapest 2.00 carat round, F VS2 Ideal, they were $1,079 and $7554. The product page added a countdown reading "0d 0h 0m 0s" and a "$324 Saved!" line, the difference between the two numbers8. The plainest setting showed the same pattern: $720 struck through, $430 to pay, countdown at zero9.
The jeweler's coupons page describes the reductions behind these labels as "Always on, automatically applied at checkout - no code required"1. We cannot see whether the struck-through figure was ever charged, and we make no claim about it. A reduction the seller itself calls always-on is, for comparison purposes, the regular price. The FTC's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing say a former price supports a comparison only if it was "offered to the public on a regular basis for a reasonably substantial period of time"; otherwise "the 'reduced' price is, in reality, probably just the seller's regular price"18. That is guidance to advertisers, not a ruling on any jeweler, and a reason to compare the paid price with a dated read rather than with the strike-through.
The cheapest stone also changes with the hour. Earlier on October 7 our 1 carat page recorded $388 for a 1.07 ct D VS1; by the evening the cheapest of the first 60 listings was a different stone, a 1.10 ct F VVS1 at $3762. The 1.5 carat band moved the same way, $527 to $515, because a different stone sat at the bottom of the list, not because a price was cut3. Compare a weight band and grade, not a single stone.
Paid prices to compare against on Black Friday
The cheapest laboratory-grown stone in the first 60 listings of each weight band in the jeweler's default sort, read October 7, 2026 (evening UTC). Every stone named an IGI report. Per-carat figures are our arithmetic.

On November 27, filter the same way and read the cheapest paid price at comparable grades. Below these figures, the price moved; the same figure with a bigger struck-through number, nothing moved. The exact stone will differ.
Black Friday and the Christmas timeline
Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, 2026. The shipping policy says made-to-order items are "dispatched within 2 to 3 weeks from the order date" and then travel as "2 business-day shipments"13. From November 27 with the full three weeks, the ring is dispatched December 18 and delivered Tuesday, December 22, which is why our holiday proposal timeline names Black Friday the last order date for a made-to-order ring. A loose stone, dispatched "within 2 to 10 days," leaves more room13.
If a Black Friday price is genuinely lower and the ring is needed by Christmas, order that day and skip the engraving. If the price has not moved against the table above, ordering earlier buys the slack the timeline lacks. Returns run 30 days from delivery with free US return shipping12, so an order delivered December 22 can be returned until about January 21, 2027 by our arithmetic. That covers a no; it is not price protection if the stone is cheaper in January.
A five-point check for any jeweler's Black Friday page
Step 1
Find the grading report on the listing
Every Friendly Diamonds stone we read named an IGI report on the listing line, as did With Clarity's rows217. The FTC requires the qualifier "laboratory-grown" when such a stone is called a diamond21. Compare stones with the same laboratory and grades, and check the report number on the laboratory's site.
Step 4
Read the return window and the ship date
Friendly Diamonds returns run 30 days from delivery with free US return shipping12. Read the Ships By or estimated shipment date on the listing on the day you order and check it against the holiday timeline.
Step 5
Remember the resale caveat
Laboratory-grown diamonds resell for a small fraction of retail: one trade estimate says 10 to 30% of the purchase price, and wholesale prices fell 13% year over year in the second quarter of 2026, with 2-carat stones down 20%1920. The trade-in credits the purchase price only toward a piece costing double14. Buy to keep.

Black Friday lab diamond questions
Did Friendly Diamonds run a Black Friday sale in 2025?
Its site does not say. On October 7, 2026 the blog had no Black Friday post, the coupons and press pages did not mention it, and /black-friday, /cyber-monday, /sale and /holiday answered 40410. Third-party coupon sites are not evidence, so the question stays open until the jeweler publishes something.
Is the struck-through price a fake price?
We cannot tell from outside, and we do not claim it is. Every stone we read showed one, the product-page countdown read zero, and the jeweler calls its sitewide reductions always-on18. The FTC's guides treat a former price as a fair comparison only if it was charged on a regular basis for a substantial period18.
How do I check whether a Black Friday price is really lower?
Filter to the same weight band, sort the same way and read the cheapest paid price with comparable grades. On October 7 that was $755 for a 2.00 to 2.10 ct round and $1,042 for 3.00 to 3.10 ct45. Lower on November 27 means the price moved; a bigger struck-through number alone means it did not.
Do the dollar coupons stack with the sitewide reduction?
The coupons page lists $50 to $500 codes by order value and free jewelry at the same tiers, and says the sitewide reduction is applied automatically1. Whether a code combines with it is in that page's own FAQ, which we could not read in full. Ask the jeweler before counting on both.

Diamond listings change by the hour: stones sell, prices move and sales start and end. Every price here is the merchant's listed price on the date shown. The merchant's own page is the final word on price, availability and terms.
RingPrice Index does not sell jewelry, does not grade stones and does not take your details. We read merchants' public listing pages and report what they showed.
